Another type of pre-made solution invovles the use of a single metal track.  The storage cabinets for the garage will attach to this metal strip.  By using a metal strip that is securely anchored to the wall, there is no need to worry about attaching them into a stud.  The metal track is already attached to studs.  If you wish to remove the garage wall cabinets, just lift them off the track.

A little trick not many people think of doing to get extra storage space is this.  Cut a hole into the dry wall the size you would like the garage storage cabinet to be.  Trim it out so it makes a box that is recessed in the wall.  Now add a door. There you have it.  You just made one or if desired two, garage wall cabinets.  But they are recessed in the wall.  This saves the space of regular cabinets sticking out into your garage where someone may bump their head on them.  You will not be able to store large things in this recessed space.  Little things will fit perfectly in your newly created garage storage space.

No matter what kind of garage cabinet you decide to go with, there are a few things to keep in mind.

The placement and the things in your storage area should be very easy to get to.  You should arrange the stuff inside them in a way that makes every thing easy to find also.  You should have a personal organization plan so you know what goes where and where to put stuff back.

You should be sure that your cabinets can be moved easily if necessary. If you are using old cabinets that are screwed to the wall, this will not be easy.  If you are using an easy track system, it will be easy.  You might want to buy a bigger car someday and have to move these things to fit the bigger car in the garage.
